Finally some good news!! Victoria Martial Arts will be re-opening for business as of Monday, June 1. For some of us, our training and gym family is the glue that holds us together and we are ecstatic to welcome everyone back. However, we are emerging from some very dark times and it will not be business as usual quite yet. We are currently working on setting up the gym for no contact training in accordance with the island health authority recommendations. Here are the new (temporary) guidelines at VMA.
✅ All bookings for our classes will be made by clicking the schedule now button. Classes will be limited to 8 students per class. Classes can be booked nine day in advance. Only booked participants will be granted access to the building five minutes before class starts.
✅ Class duration will be 45 minutes. Gym equipment and surrounding areas will be sanitized by staff at the end of every class. We will provide hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and small spray bottles with clean rags for student use.
✅ We will encourage physical distancing. There are 8 stations set up at the gym and each student will be assigned one station and one heavy bag upon entering. Do not congregate at the front door. Please wait at your car in the parking lot until we call you in for class. If you are on foot, then there are marks on the ground outside our gym to maintain 6 feet apart.
✅ There will be no contact. There will be no shared equipment. You must bring your own boxing gloves. If you need to purchase boxing gloves, we can provide them.
✅ Please limit bathroom use. There will be no changing in the gym or the bathroom. Please show up to class in your workout clothes ready to train. All you need to bring into the gym is a water bottle, a small towel and car keys. If you are on foot, you can bring a small/medium size bag or backpack. You will be assigned a station for your shoes and socks.
️Our class schedule will be the same as pre-Covid except for Friday’s. The open mat/sparring will be replaced by another strength class for the time being as there will be no contact in any class until further notice. Please refer to the website for the class schedule and other information you may need. You can contact management at 250–886–8386 for any questions you may have. We also encourage and appreciate any feedback you may have.
